“I would’ve enjoyed campaigning against Trump”, Obama said in an interview with sportswriter Bill Simmons for GQ’s upcoming “Men of the Year” issue. “And somehow in those first two years, I think a certain arrogance crept in, in the sense of thinking as long as we get the policy ready, we didn’t have to sell it”.
As Barack Obama’s days as president wind down, the time for retrospection is becoming more common.
In the accompanying interview with Bill Simmons, Obama discusses his second term, how he’s adapted and evolved as president, how he’s quit smoking in the White House, and, in a humorous aside, his favorite “conspiracy theory” about his presidency.

Obama closely follows the National Basketball Association and is a fan of the Chicago Bulls.
“Uh…I don’t think…I don’t think any of them rise to that level”, Obama said. Sadly, I think it’s hard to imagine, after that many injuries, him getting back to his MVP-season performance.
The president said he sometimes watches a few vintage National Basketball Association for fun.

Obama said he used that same approach when dealing with the ups and downs of the presidency.
