NASCAR crash injures fans in Daytona, no drivers hurt
“If anything hurt any worse than what it did, I think I’d be more shaken, but right now adrenaline is still pumping and I feel fine”, Dillon said.

Dillon’s No. 3 vehicle went airborne and into the fence, tearing part of it down, flipped and landed on its roof.
The horrific crash at NASCAR’s race in Daytona Sunday night sent the vehicle driven by Austin Dillon flying into the protective fence then tumbling across the track. “They realize that if they make a mistake, somebody could pay a big price”.
“It’s not the greatest feeling in the world”, Dillon said. “Everybody is pushing for all they can, pushing, (a) tight pack”. “You just hope you make it through”. Thirty-three fans were injured in the 2013 crash.
A total of 13 fans were checked for injuries, with four being treated at the infield care center, while one other went to a local hospital, according to USA Today.
On Tuesday, Dillon talked about the crash and said he was happy no one was seriously injured. “I’m praying for all the fans out there”. Being in the sport as long as I have, you learn how to turn it off and on.Earnhardt didnt celebrate much after his victory.
“The safety that NASCAR has done for the race vehicle is obviously pretty awesome”. But for me, I think it kind of set in when I got to talk to my brother. “I had just got done stopping and I had crew members everywhere”.
Dillon emerged from the crumpled wreck of his Childress Racing Chevrolet with a bruised tailbone and a sore arm after being launched into the catch fence at the finish of the Coke Zero 400.
“It’s not really acceptable I don’t think”.
Asked what NASCAR will examine as far as video and Dillon’s auto, France said all that will be scrutinized. You could see how upset they were, and I hadn’t seen the real footage of the wreck. That’s the next thing. “There could be a lot of new technologies that we could look at collectively with the tracks to make some improvements in that area”.
Morgan said his clients, a 60-year-old mother and her adult son, did not suffer any catastrophic injuries, but were struck by pieces of steel debris while attending their first Nascar race.

“That was terrifying to watch”, Earnhardt said. “It’s a recipe for disaster because drivers are put into a box”. “The fence held up, it did function well, but the debris going off into the stands is something I don’t know how you can control”. I hate the green-white-checkered finishes at the restrictor-plate races. It’s nearly as guaranteed as the sun rising each day. “Cars getting airborne, unsafe drivers, same old stuff”. Drivers spent the time doing an array of different activities: Daytona 500 victor Joey Logano went into the stands to thank fans for sticking around, while Ricky Stenhouse Jr. used social media to prove he can do a headstand.
