Several buildings on the campus of Harvard University in Cambridge have been evacuated following a bomb threat.
The university made an announcement shortly before 1 p.m.
Campus officials are issuing updates on Twitter, and entry to Harvard Yard was being restricted.
According to Harvard Law student Avrahm Berkowitz, students and faculty are very concerned. The threat indicated someone was planning to bomb the “Cambridge Mass City Schools”, according to Jeffrey Young, Superintendent of Schools in Cambridge. We will continue to provide updates as information becomes available.
At 3:25 p.m., officials posted another statement on the school website, notifying students that a few of the mandates had been lifted.
A few students said in light of the similarity between the two threats, they were not overly concerned about the severity of Monday’s incident.
“The searches of Emerson and Sever Halls have been completed”.
The Science Center is located just outside the Harvard Yard gates. ValueWalk is reporting today on the increased terrorist threat in Europe following the ISIS Paris attacks. Cape Cod Community College canceled classes Monday morning from a threat, and Fitchburg State temporarily evacuated its McKay campus, Boston.com reported. The extremist group intends to target any nation involved in air strikes against Syria.
