Murray taking nothing for granted after Ferrer win
And Murray, who opened his ATP World Tour Finals campaign with a 6-4 6-4 victory over David Ferrer on Monday, said: “My view is that the process has taken such a long time that it is awkward timing now”.

Great Britain face Belgium on the clay in Ghent and though Murray only switched back to the hard courts on Friday, he adjusted well in an impressive display.
Andy Murray plays tennis for a living, and he doesn’t plan on being afraid of doing his job.
“If I didn’t play here, I would have gone three weeks or something without playing a match before the Davis Cup Final”, Murray said.
Edmund, who climbed back yesterday to his career-best position at No 99 in the world rankings, said in the wake of his Buenos Aires victory that he would not be daunted by the prospect of making his Davis Cup debut in the final.
On Monday, Murray was able to win with plenty of help from Ferrer’s serve.
It was a similar story in the 10th game, however, and facing break point again, Ferrer double-faulted, handing Murray the set.
“I didn’t manage to win a grand slam, that’s always a bit disappointing, but I’ve played very consistently through all the tournaments this year and that’s something I wanted to do”.
Second seed Murray, who has qualified for the season finale for the eighth straight year, recorded his fifth straight win over 2007 finalist and seventh seed David Ferrer 6-4, 6-4 in their Group Ilie Nastase clash at The O2 in London.
He said: “For me it was quite simple”. If he plays like that for the rest of the round-robin in a group that features Stan Wawrinka and Rafael Nadal, he could find himself in the semi-finals at the weekend. If he gets the green light, and if he does get selected, I’ll welcome him with open arms.

Instead of practicing on clay for this month’s Davis Cup final, Andy Murray is playing on a hard court. It’s better to have players that are coming in on form, which wasn’t the case really in the last tie.

Aided by 35 unforced errors from Wawrinka, Nadal took the first step to that goal as he broke twice in the second set to seal the win. “I am very happy about that”. When I came in, I kind of forgot it was a first round. “I should get better”. Murray won 64 points to 49, a fair measure of his dominance, and his serve, although not at the level he has hit earlier in the season, was sound at 60 per cent. I think I played the way that I wanted to play.
