Google+ puts focus on Communities and Collections in latest redesign

After all if you already had a Google account, you could make a Google+ account very easily without any fuss, but safe to say that Google+ is nowhere near the level of Facebook.

Google consists of at least one, maybe two, trillion departments, and they each adopt new visual styles at their own pace.

But Google+ has been a place where people have found they can have long, in-depth conversations about specific topics, and it looks like the new version of the service is created to emphasize this sort of interaction rather than the kind of personal interactions people usually engage in on Facebook or the short updates that are blasted on Twitter. And with this refreshed look, Google hopes to make its social network load faster and look better on all devices, including Android and iOS devices.

The new Google+ is already rolling out across the web, but you’ll have to opt-in to give it a try. In either case, updating on the web is as simple as clicking the “Let’s go” prompt, and you can always go back to the “Classic” design by clicking the button in the lower left-hand corner.

Google+ was previously focused on allowing users to divide their contacts into “circles” that never had to interact with each other.

According to Google, “Today, we’re starting to introduce a fully redesigned Google+ that puts Communities and Collections front and center”. Google plans to roll out updated apps with the new design for Android and iOS shortly. From what Google has said, however, it seems like the company is changing Google+ into a Reddit competitor instead of an attempt to take on other social networking services.
