Giants’ Pierre-Paul has index finger amputated
Jason Pierre-Paul had a finger amputated after his own weekend fireworks accident that became known earlier this week.

Prior to the 4th of July celebration, Pierre-Paul posted a video of himself in front of a vehicle, which his neighbors said was a U-Haul van full of fireworks.
ESPN obtained medical charts that show Giants Delaware Jason Pierre-Paul had right index finger amputated today. He reportedly wouldn’t let the Giants personnel see him in the hospital days after the Giants took a long-term $60 million offer off the table.
So what does the accident mean for Pierre-Paul’s career? If he signs the tender and the team puts him on NFI, Pierre-Paul would not be paid for the first six weeks of the regular season, which would be worth about $6 million. One of the things they were investigating was whether Pierre-Paul was in Coral Springs when he discharged the fireworks and it apparently didn’t take them long to find out.
Both New York Giants defensive end’s Jason Pierre-Paul and Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ cornerback C.J Wilson were injured in two separate fireworks accidents over the holiday weekend.
National Football League Media’s Ian Rapoport later confirmed Schefter’s report. “It is our understanding that the injury occurred to one of his hands, and our primary concern at this moment is for his long-term health”.
Addressing his injured teammate, Cruz said to SI.com, “We just want you to be back on our team, man. Hopefully we will have him there come training camp and into the season”.
There are minimal reports out regarding the extent of his injury, but the Lincoln Times-News reported Wilson lost two fingers in the incident. But the two-time Pro Bowler has yet to sign the tender, which the Giants can still rescind.

The good news is that Pierre-Paul is in no additional risk of further amputations, but that doesn’t mean he’s out of the woods medically.
