Paris Attacks: Do Muslims Need to do More Against Extremism?

Islamic State militants have officially claimed responsibility for the attacks across Paris that left more than 150 dead after suicide bombers and machine-gun wielding extremists targeted the lives of the innocent. But in others it has been violent and shameful.

Over the weekend, a mosque in Peterborough, Ontario was set on fire.

One thing is clear: Responding to terrorism with xenophobia and intolerance toward Muslims feeds straight into Daesh narratives about the West.

Their argument seemed to be that because Muslim on Muslim terror was the order of the day across the Islamic world, westerners should not express grief if Muslims attack the West.

“This type of creation of hysteria and anti-Muslim sentiment is exactly what ISIS feeds on”. “Because by doing battle, they think they will eventually succeed, they eventually will conquer and establish their domination over the world.it’s a bit of megalomania”.

Beeman says it’s important to understand ISIS is not Islam, but that ISIS leaders have cherry picked portions of the Quran to justify their tactics. That’s what they want in our society.

“We are with the people of France in sharing their pain”. Seventy percent of the individuals polled said Muslims receive a lot of discrimination, which was the highest percentage agreeing that a certain group is discriminated against.

The imam urged young French Muslims to stay away from ISIS.

And yet, there is widespread concern that innocent Muslims could be targeted in retaliation.
