23, and Derrick Stafford, 32, have been arrested and charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder. A state police spokesman declined comment, citing a judge’s gag order in the case. “Tonight, the badge has been tarnished by these two individuals”, Edmonson added, according to ABC affiliate WBRZ. Police also state Few was having an argument with his girlfriend and this prompted them to arrive, according to WVCB.
An FBI spokesman says federal authorities are in “constant communication” with state investigators about last week’s shooting.
In an interview with CNN New Day’s Alisyn Camerota, Louisiana State Police Superintendent Col. Michael Edmonson stressed that Marksville is a small town. Few was driving a vehicle with his 6 year old son, Jeremy Mardis, inside.
The judge ordered both held on $1 million bond. “What’s important to me is what caused those police officers to pursue”, he said.
The officers, 32-year-old Derrick Stafford of Mansura and 23-year-old Derrick Greenhouse Jr., of Marksville each is charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.
The boy’s father, Chris Few, remains in a Louisiana hospital for injuries he sustained during the Wednesday incident.
Spruill said he granted the motion “to promote impartial administration of justice”.
Pallbearers carry the casket of 6-year-old Jeremy Mardis to the grave site Monday at Beaumont Cemetery. Stafford and Greenhouse Jr. were not the only officers at the scene last week during the fatal shooting.
More information is coming to light about the two Marksville City Marshals who ruthlessly shot to death a 6-year-old boy as he was buckled into the front seat of a vehicle.
Speaking of the body camera footage that was recovered from the officers, he said: ‘It is the most disturbing thing I’ve seen, and I will leave it at that’.
In initial reports, the police claimed Jeremy’s father had a warrant to be arrested, had a gun, tried to run over the officers, fired at the officers, and possibly even killed his own son.
The source says the marshals alleged they witnessed “domestic abuse” and moved in to detain Few, who instead took off in his SUV.

Also Monday, District Attorney Charles A. Riddle recused himself from the case, because one of his top assistant prosecutors is the father of Greenhouse. “This is a good community with good people, and this kind of mess doesn’t go on”, Avoyelles Parish Sheriff Doug Anderson said. They were transferred Monday from the Avoyelles Parish jail facility in Marksville because the Alexandria facility is better equipped to isolate them from the general population, media members were told.
