White House Blasts Republicans For Racial Insensitivity
Obama spoke Wednesday night with his negotiating team in Vienna, according to the White House.

Earnest said it was “good news and progress” that the South Carolina legislature voted to take the Confederate flag down from the state Capitol grounds.
The House earlier this week in a voice vote adopted language in the Interior bill banning the display of Confederate flags on National Park Service grounds.
For anybody who isn’t familiar with what he was talking about, Earnest connected today’s House Republican meltdown to the documented racism of the third-ranking Republican in the House, Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA), which he connected to the Republican refusal to criticize Donald Trump, which he connected to Sen.
“So when you hear me say that congressional Republicans have an agenda that is out of step with the vast majority of Americans, this record, at least in part, is what I’m referring to”, said Earnest.
Earnest also noted with a “high degree of confidence” that the computer problems that grounded United Airlines flights Wednesday was not related to the technical glitch at the NYSE.
But Republicans say the amendment they put forward was consistent with the administration’s policy regarding the Confederate flag’s restrictions on federal lands.
Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said Thursday he does not believe Confederate flags should be displayed at federal cemeteries.
“Distorting fact to try and score cheap political points is no way to honor the victims of the horrific crime in Charleston”, said spokesman Cory Fritz.

President Barack Obama prefers a long-term funding plan for USA highways, roads and bridges, but he would not rule out signing a short-term spending fix when the current temporary authorization expires this month, a White House spokesman said on Thursday.
