During a panel at San Diego’s Comic-Con 2015, Capcom assured players that another mainstay of the franchise would be making his triumphant return. Ken, the master of the flaming Shoryuken, has just been confirmed and is now playable on the Comic-Con show floor (Capcom booth #215).
Ken now brings an array of new abilities to his fights. Officially announced characters include Cammy, Birdie, Ryu, Chun-Li, M. Bison and Charlie.
For those in North America, they can participate in the event by pre-ordering “Street Fighter V” through various online retailers such as the PlayStation Network, Amazon, Best Buy and Gamestop.
“He’s a surprise”, admits brand manager Michael Lunn, noting that character probably does have his fans out there.
For high-quality 3D printing of the cover art for Street Fighter V, Source3 turned to ZVerse, Inc. Check out his reveal video below.
While some have praised Capcom for being bold and trying something new, other purists have questioned why they have chose to redesign Ken now after 20 years of keeping the same character design in tact.
Were the rumor prove to be true, it would be quite significant, as neither of these characters have seen life in any Street Fighter since Street Fighter III: Third Strike. Street Fighter V’s Ken is all about turning up the heat – literally.
