Senior internationals Darren Randolph and Joey O’Brien were in the starting line-up for West Ham but so was U19 cap Cullen, making his second appearance for the first team.
The Hammers, whose campaign is already underway after last week’s commanding victory in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League qualifier over Andorran outfit Lusitans, are set to bid farewell to the Boleyn Ground next May.
Striker Sakho, who scored twice in last Thursday’s win, was dismissed after an off-the-ball incident with two Lusitans players near the centre circle, despite the Frenchman’s bemusement at the decision.
The visitors had the better of the early stages, but were reduced to 10 men when Sakho saw red. With the quality of players that are coming in it is only going to help us.
Late on in the second period, James Tomkins had to clear off the line after Alfi Conteh flicked on a corner, after Lee almost grabbed his second of the game with a curling effort at the other end.
Aberdeen needed the away goals rule to advance as they were held to a scoreless draw by Shkendija.
Michael O’Halloran levelled the tie on aggregate in the 34th minute and St Johnstone’s chances appeared to improve considerably with the 65th-minute dismissal of Karen Muradyan.
Cup winners Glentorna lost 3-0 to MSK Zilnia in Slovakia to go down 7-1 on aggregate as Matej Jelic bagged a hat-trick for the hosts.

Westley said Bilic was also happy with his players, with his team to meet Maltese club Birkirkara in the second round.
