TOMB RAIDER Reboot Finds Director
Back in September, we reported that Kathryn Bigelow, Catherine Hardwicke and Mimi Leder were Warner Bros. and MGM’s front runners to direct their Tomb Raider reboot.

The property last manifested as two hit films in Tomb Raider (2001) and its sequel Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (2003), both featuring the iconic portrayal of Angelina Jolie as the gorgeously deadly adventurer and pilferer of relics, Lara Croft.
No plot details have been released yet, except that this Tomb Raider reboot will feature a much younger Lara Croft, chronicling her first ever adventure. Now, the relatively unknown Uthaug finds himself in the driver’s seat of what could be an important film franchise redux of the once-ubiquitous Tomb Raider video game property. If Robertson-Dworet does indeed get the screenplay gig, she’ll be taking over for TMNT writer Evan Daugherty, who wrote the most recent script.
Graham King of GK Films is producing, having grabbed the rights from Square Enix in 2011.
Croft is the star of a series of hit video games and one of the best known video game characters.
Uthaug has quietly directed a range of movies in his homeland, from a horror thriller (Cold Prey) to a children’s adventure (Magic Silver) to a survival action thriller (Escape).

There has been a few positive news about the Tomb Raider reboot recently, as it has been announced that a director has been found for the project, although it is probably not who you were hoping for or expecting. The game franchise was rebooted in 2013, telling Lara Croft’s origins, so it’s possible the movie may be based on that game.
