Chelsea legend: Why I’m happy for Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has lavished praise on star attacking duo Harry Kane and Erik Lamela after their 1-1 draw against Arsenal on Sunday, according to reports from the London Evening Standard.

Arsenal appeared transformed in the second half after Mathieu Flamini replaced Santi Cazorla, with Wenger saying the Spain midfielder was dizzy and “not at the races”.

“We suffered as Cazorla was at 30 per cent of his potential”, said Wenger.

‘That’s massively important. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks we’ll get more energy because it’s important while having injured players’.

Tottenham clearly came into the game with an obvious but intelligent game plan, pressing high; not allowing us to get the ball down, keep possession and play our usual passing game. At half-time I took him off, and in the second half we had a bit better balance.

“He has grown into a very great player as he has added commitment, leadership qualities and responsibility”.

Full-back Gibbs had only just been introduced when he got in behind Kyle Walker to volley home a teasing cross and earn a share of the points with just his fourth touch of the game. For me, they are still short of the likes of City, Arsenal and United and, if they were to lose Kane through injury, I think they would have a real problem.

“Our supporters were also brilliant and I say thank-you to them as well”.

“But in the end, I have to congratulate my players because we played three games in six days. You could see today how great it was to have Gibbs on the bench – he gave us a big lift we he came on, he was fresh and gave everyone a lift with the goal”.

After a cagey opening, the first chance of the game arrived in the 25th minute when an un-marked Eric Dier headed wide of the mark from close range.

“We are very happy with the way our philosophy is developing and this was a good example to show the belief in the way we want to play”, Pochettino said.

“It’s not an easy system to play in, I can tell you from personal experience that it’s not easy training every day”. “We are very ambitious”.
