Israeli troops kill 2 Palestinians in West Bank violence

During the unrest, Israel recently renewed a policy of demolishing homes belonging to Palestinians accused in deadly attacks. The court accepted one appeal because the home was rented, but gave the family until Tuesday to vacate the premises.

Deterrence debate The debate continues in Israel over whether or not demolishing the homes of convicted militants acts as a deterrence. “The Israeli war crimes will not break the willpower of the Palestinian people”, stated Sami Abu Zuhri, Hamas spokesperson.

“If a survey is conducted among Palestinians about Friday’s attacks, I can’t wait to see what it reveals”, Marcus said dryly.

Despite the fierce clashes, Israeli forces were able to demolish the home of Abu Shahin, and retreated once the job was finished.

The funerals of the two Palestinians, expected to be held after midday prayers on Monday, coincide with a day of rage called for by various Palestinian factions and university student groups, during which Palestinian protesters were expected to march to numerous Israeli checkpoints throughout the West Bank.

The military says that over the past month, Palestinians have carried out dozens of attacks in Hebron alone, including more than 20 stabbings, multiple assaults with cars and other vehicles and several shooting attacks.

Bassam Manasra, 24, a mechanic and the cousin of Laith Manasra, said troops entered the camp at 2 a.m. Two of the injured Palestinians were struck by live ammunition.

The experts welcomed the reported clarification by Israeli Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein to the effect that Israeli security forces are prohibited from firing at a suspected assailant unless an immediate danger to human life can not otherwise be prevented and that the use of fire must be proportional to the threat.

Israeli leaders expressed condolences to the French over the Paris terror attacks, but quickly stressed Sunday that Israel and the West face the same foe in radical Islam and that Israel is on the front line. “And we should provide them with shelter and rehabilitation services in Ariel”, tweeted Margalit, referring to one of the major settlements. Israel says about half of those deaths were Palestinians involved in knife, gun and auto ramming attacks that have killed 12 Israelis.

– Deterrent or collective punishment?

Clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinian demonstrators erupted in a West Bank refugee camp before dawn Monday after Israeli forces arrived to demolish the home of a Palestinian militant, leaving two Palestinians dead. By authorizing the move to name a street after the terrorist, President Abbas and the PA leadership are sending a message to other Palestinians that those who murder Jews will be honored and glorified by their people.
