Police said they had arrested a suspect for the shooting at a gas station in Bad Windsheim.

Petrol station employees detained the man after he went in with a weapon, according to the nordbayen.de website.

Police say they believe the man was acting alone, and now don’t know anything about his identity or background. A short time later, the shooter fired at and killed the cyclist in the nearby district of Rammersdorf.

A motorist and a farmer were also shot at in the picturesque southern city but escaped unhurt, police said.

A press conference on the incident is expected Friday afternoon. Further details weren’t immediately available.

The gunman reportedly shot while driving in a silver Mercedes vehicle.
