Monica Michael slams the X Factor

Monica Michael has defended Olly Murs following his X Factor gaffe on Sunday night’s results show, admitting that he was “absolutely devastated” after coming off the air.

Co-host Caroline Flack was expected to reveal the eliminated contestant by drawing a card from an envelope, but Murs, 31, got confused and revealed Michael was leaving the competition.

However, even before the results were handed to him, Murs already revealed them, saying, “Unfortunately Monica you are going home”.

But it wasn’t just Olly who had apologising to do on Sunday; Monica’s exit caused an uproar as she ended it by making a shooting gesture as she shouted “BANG BANG BANG”. “I have so much history with her, so I’m sticking with Monica”, judge Chery Fernandez-Versini said. Give the guy a break”, adding, “Everyone’s a fucking TV presenter tonight I see.

It was later clarified that two judges wanted to send Michael home, while the other two chose to send Stephans home, meaning it was a deadlock and would go back to a public vote.

X Factor returns to ITV at 8pm on Saturday.

Some, who we presume have never made a slip-up in their lives, are dubbing the error the “beginning of the end” of Olly’s X Factor career. Bang bang bang!’ after learning she would be going home.

She told us: “As soon as I heard the news I had no qualms with changing the song, I knew straight away”.

Olly has been getting help with his meals from celeb favourite Soulmate Food, and he took to Twitter to praise them.

Max has a few theories about why he received the lowest votes – although song choice is his main one, with Simon preferring him to sing Secret Garden by Bruce Springsteen rather than his own choice.

Monica went on to tell The Sun: “I felt so uncomfortable doing that”.
