That vertical passing game will have chances against a Boston College secondary that’s a bit beaten up.

Notre Dame has a solid resume for the committee to take a look at, but a lot of it is still out of their hands.

Adams made his first career start in place of ailing C.J. Prosise while Trumbetti made his first start of the season and the second of his career. It was also the longest play from scrimmage in the nation this year and tied the longest rush by a freshman in NCAA history.

“Obviously, the run was one for the highlight reel: Physical, explosive, sheds off a tackler”, Kelly stated.

Prosise has broken off 18 runs of 15 yards or more, including a 91-yard touchdown against Georgia Tech. He managed the game more as the Demon Deacons limited all world Irish wide receiver Will Fuller to 37 yards on 3 grabs.

On Tuesday, Kelly talked about Notre Dame’s struggles against a good Wake Forest defense (a group that managed to beat the Eagles 3-0). Kizer also added 13 carris for 30 yards and 2 touchdowns.

“The one thing that DeShone does is when the moment is big, he rises to it”, Kelly said.

The Irish were outgained 340 yards to 282.

The injury bug has bitten the Irish backfield a couple of times this season.

The Irish defense stepped up big throughout the game.

The famous ball yard will host its first football game in 47 years on Saturday when Notre Dame and Boston College battle it out in the latest installment of the “Shamrock Series”. The “Freak” Jaylon Smith corralled 14 tackles for the game. Boston College is allowing only 236.5 yards per game and permitted just 11 touchdowns by opposing offenses, the fewest in the country (Michigan had surrendered only nine TDs until this past weekend’s 48-41 shootout win over Indiana).

“I just think he’s a common influence to those young players, he’s a mentor in a sense that that he can really do a great job off the field with them”, said Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly.
