Street Fighter V Beta Announced Exclusively For PS4, Timing And Content

The fighting game giant has come back to us with more specifics on what you can expect from the beta, which takes place over five days and is primarily happening to test the game’s online net code. Capcom is running an online Beta program for the PS4 between July 23-28th which you can sign up for by visiting www.streetfighter.com/beta.

A total of four stages will be available to play in the beta. Ryu, Chun-Li, Nash, and M. Bison will be available from the beginning, while Cammy and Birdie will be added on July 25. On July 25th additional characters, Cammy and Birdie will be released to test the content delivery aspect of the online. After matches, players will be taken to what is called the Grid where they will wait for another match. Players will choose a fighter from the character select screen, then advance to a training mode before getting paired up to fight on one of three stages – Bustling Side Street, Terminal Station, or Forgotten Waterfall, which is new to the game. Unfortunately, SFV’s PS3 joystick/controller functionality will not be ready in time for the beta.

Unfortunate, but understandable, the objective of the Beta is strictly to stress test the servers with high volumes of traffic.

Each of the stages has been inspired by various locales throughout the world with the Forgotten Waterfall’s inspiration being directly pulled from New Zealand.

If you want access to the test and you reside in North America, you can gain entry by pre-ordering the game on the PSN, or at Best Buy, GamStop, or Amazon. Preordering, but not in Europe, is the only way to be guaranteed beta access.

Ultra Street Fighter IV owners on the PS4 can finally get patch 1.04 for the game, which brings a suite of improvements, including some much-needed visual enhancements in terms of anisotropic filtering, anti-aliasing, and much more. And it looks like players will be able to continue arguing over how cheap he is in Street Fighter V.
