On Thursday, fighters allied with Hadi killed 15 rebels in an attack on their checkpoints in the country’s southern Abyan province, a military source said.
Al-Houthi explained that his group’s stance toward the ceasefire was for the sake of the people living under oppression with basic needs not being met, as the country heavily depends on imported products. “It became a truce only for the media, but what was happening on the ground was something else, the daily air strikes continued”.
UNICEF said it was stepping up nutrition screening, vaccinations and other life-saving interventions for millions of children, with teams having to “brave extremely hazardous conditions”.
“Today [Thursday] there was shelling with Katyusha rockets on the cities of Aden and Taiz by the Houthi militia and the followers of the ousted former president Saleh”, he said, adding that “the Popular Resistance is set to defend its lands”.
Both sides largely observed a five-day humanitarian truce brokered by the United Nations in May.
Saudi Arabia and an Arab coalition have been bombing the Houthis and their allies in Yemen’s army since March in an effort to restore Hadi.
The United Nations also said on Tuesday that it had received only 13% of the $1.6bn (£1bn) needed for its aid operation in Yemen since launching an appeal last month.
More than 3,200 people have been killed and over one million Yemenis displaced since the air war began.
Mr Hadi had taken refuge in the city the previous month after the Houthis consolidated their control of Sanaa and placed him under effective house arrest.
The human rights minister in Hadi’s exiled government, Ezzedine al-Asbahi, cast doubt over the rebels’ commitment to the truce. Even if they weren’t, the survivors will nearly certainly be less apt to back the Saudis in the future. “The Secretary-General firmly believes that the only sustainable solution to the conflict in Yemen is through peaceful and all-inclusive political dialogue and negotiations”. The Saudi Air Force is being augmented by American Air Power as they prepare to defend against the Iraqi military threat.
On Friday, warplanes hit rebel positions north of Sanaa and in their northern stronghold of Saada, witnesses said.
Further to the northwest in Hajjah province, a hotel was targeted twice.
In Aden, officials say convoys of aid are lined up outside the city to be allowed in.

A medical source said at least one person was killed and five more wounded.
