Adams And Jack Named To Hornung Award Watch List – Bruins Nation

After turning heads in a breakout 2014 season, Will Likely is getting noticed in the preseason awards watch.

Two LSU players were named to the Bednarik Award watch list for defensive player of the year: linebacker Kendell Beckwith and safety Jalen Mills.

Toledo’s Corey Jones, Bowling Green’s Ronnie Moore, and Ohio’s Daz’Mond Patterson were named to the 2015 watch list for the Paul Hornung Award.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – if your idea of an awesome experience is lists of the best college football players in the nation. The award is given annually in December to the best player in college football. The Ducks return four receivers with at least 600 yards receiving last season – no other FBS program can boast that depth entering the 2015 season – but the secondary’s depth chart is hazier after graduating three starters.

The El Paso native, who graduated from Burges High School where he was the El Paso Times All-City Most Valuable Player, registered 11 rushing touchdowns, 84 points, 110.1 yards per game, 242 attempts and 134.5 all-purpose yards per game. His top rushing performances came at Iowa State when he ran for 186 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns and at Kansas (164 yards). Collins was named co-Defensive MVP for the Huskers in 2014, and was a second-team All-Big Ten pick.

All three Clemson players named on Tuesday will be challenged by tough competition this year.

Cooper has five plays of 70-plus yards in his career (two rushing and three receiving). Those 57 passes gained an average of just 4.9 yards per attempt, and he did not allow his man to catch a touchdown pass over the last nine games of the season.

The Pirates will open the 2015 season at home against Towson inside Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium on September 6 with a 6 p.m. (ET) scheduled kickoff.
