Don’t Expect Too Much of Dele Alli Too Soon Warns Wayne Rooney
Teenage midfielder Dele Alli opened the scoring as he continued his outstanding start to the current campaign, while fellow midfielder Eric Dier and striker Harry Kane also looked impressive for Roy Hodgson’s side.

‘It still hasn’t sunk in, it’s one of those insane moments and I’m sure I’ll think about it a lot, ‘ said Alli.
Hodgson said that Mauricio Pochettino, the Spurs manager, had been his guest at Wembley for the game with the club providing five members of the England squad – three of who started. I can already tell that from the short time I’ve been there.
“I just like to go out there and express myself”. They might be a very good team, who play nice football, but they are not a lot of good to me because they don’t play Englishmen.
While his memorable goal will gain the most plaudits, Alli’s all-round display was excellent as he also played a key part in the second goal by threading the ball to Raheem Sterling to assist Wayne Rooney; Spurs’ No.20’s dynamism and eagerness to get involved was prevalent throughout. “But they are going to get a lot of publicity for their chances going forward”. Players from both teams stood shoulder to shoulder in an act of defiance before kick-off and they were once again side by side in the centre circle for an impeccably observed minute’s silence.
“We are delighted that Tottenham have gone down this route and Pochettino in particular of giving players he thinks have quality a chance”, he said.
Judging by his silky touch and, as witnessed at Wembley on Tuesday night, his eye for a cracker of a goal, it’s fair to say that England wunkerkind Dele Alli is a cool customer.
“Sometimes it can sort of put a downer on it if you don’t get the result you want”. I’ve loved him ever since last April when I did a little research and found a ridiculously confident young man with a big game to back it up. I was excited about the move to Tottenham. The attacks in Paris had, so we thought, meant the end for this friendly match, but a decision to stage the tie was made amid the mourning, as a showing of defiance perhaps more than anything else. It was evident that he was too good for League One, but even so, nobody expected him to make the step up to Premier League football as quickly as he has managed. I never really started thinking about England. I knew if I played well for my club then the England opportunity would come, and thankfully it has.
