Modi later arrived in the Kazakh capital Astana.

So, this is really a good time to visit Kazakhstan.

He hailed “a new era in our relationship with Central Asia” at a speech at a university in Kazakhstan on Tuesday. Kazakhstan will play a critical role in advancing this vision. “But, we will also combat terrorism by the strength of our values and our commitment to humanism”.

Nazarbayev, officially titled Leader of the Nation, is a ex- steelworker who promoted market reforms.

They noted the successful 12th Meeting of the Kazakhstan-India Inter-Governmental Commission (IGC) on trade, economic, scientific, technological, and cultural cooperation in New Delhi on June 16-17 this year, where new initiatives and proposals to strengthen cooperation in different sectors between countries have been explored.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today called for stepping up economic engagement between India and Kazakhstan in a big way and enhanced investment by Kazakh companies in India. “It is a force that is larger and more enduring than its changing names, locations and targets. So, we must ask ourselves: Will we let a generation of youth be lost to guns and hate, because they will hold us accountable for their lost future?”

In a nod to the Great Game-style rivalries that have pitted Moscow, Beijing, and the West against each other in a struggle over Central Asian resources and geopolitical influence in recent years, Modi urged “a climate of cooperation and collaboration, not competition and exclusion”. The waiver came after significant USA pressure, most clearly stated in the signing of the Indian-United States Civil Nuclear Agreement in 2006.

After completing his visit to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Ufa, Russian Federation to participate in the 7th BRICS summit.

PM Modi said both sides agreed to give priority to investment in manufacturing and infrastructure and also boost cooperation in renewable energy.

The increase in uranium supply is a boon to Modi’s energy plans. This is another priority area of cooperation, including in the manufacture of equipment. “We will connect through space and cyber as we will by air, land and sea”.

We both agree that connectivity is an important issue, but one that we will address.
