A police spokeswoman said the assailant was apprehended and that he had attacked worshippers who gathered for afternoon prayers in a shop that sells Jewish religious items in the building.

One of the stabbers was arrested, and Israeli police are reportedly looking for another man who they say participated in the attack.

Thursday’s attack was the first to hit central Israel in over two-and-a-half weeks, when two separate incidents left four Israels injured and one attacker dead.

Ben Zvi street is blocked off following the stabbing attack in Tel Aviv.

Samri says a third Israeli has been moderately wounded in Thursday’s violence.
