Fayetteville Packers Fan Gets New Banner After Cam Newton Takes His

For Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, tearing down a pro-Packers banner prior to yesterday’s game was about defending his home. “I feel it’s my due diligence to protect this house”.

Opposing team signs are not allowed in Bank of America stadium during Panthers games, even though stadium officials pre-approved Dobs sign.

I don’t think the Carolina Panthers should reimburse them for their sign after the racial comments made about Cam Newton. “Either somebody was going to have to take it off or I’d take it off. And it’s no disrespect to nobody, it’s more of a respect to the stadium”. “I just need to play football, do my thing and it will work itself out”, he added.

“You’re not gonna sell a Whopper at a McDonald’s, know what I’m sayin’?…” If he decides to stay at home, Dobs promises he will make sure to send the banner up via U.P.S for all his friends and family in Wisconsin to carry with pride.

Mike Dobs, from Fayetteville, said he paid around $500 for the “North Carolina Cheese Head” sign, he was hoping to hang in his man room after the game.

Dobs said he complained to Panthers management, and the team promised to compensate him.

Panthers executive director of stadium operations Scott Paul said Monday night on the team’s website the team will review its current policy on banners and flags.

He said that while they were holding the banner, Newton came by, ripped it out of their hands and crumbled it.

The Panthers surrendered a 17-point lead in the fourth quarter to the Indianapolis Colts two weeks ago, fell behind by a field goal in overtime and wound up winning 29-26 on a 52-yard field goal by Graham Gano.

Dobs told the Observer the trip to Charlotte was his first and was part of a family vacation that included a stay at the Westin hotel in uptown Charlotte.

According to a report in The Fayetteville Observer, the owner of the banner took issue with Newton’s actions and told stadium police it was stolen. He says he also heard from the Green Bay Packers organization “to see if I was okay”.

That hasn’t particularly bothered the Panthers, a team that has won back-to-back NFC South championships and still managed to mostly fly under the radar.
