CBI files charge sheet in Sheena Bora murder

Mumbai: Media tycoon Peter Mukerjea was arrested in connection with the sensational Sheena Bora murder case on Thursday night.

It was earlier during his statements to police that Rai had said that Indrani had taken him to Raigadh for recce of the location where Sheena’s body was to be disposed off and that it was Khanna who had strangulated Sheena while Indrani watched.

The media baron had claimed that he was “completely in a state of disbelief” on learning that Sheena was Indrani’s daughter. “I never doubted this as Sheena and I rarely had a conversation even when she was in Mumbai”. Bora was Indrani’s daughter from her first marriage. It is believed that blackmail and money laundering could be the reasons for the murder.

“CBI has arrested Peter Mukherjea in a case relating to the murder of Sheena Bora”.

The charge sheet by the Central Bureau of Investigation, running into around 1,000 pages, was submitted in the court of Additional Metropolitan Magistrate (Ms.) R.V. Adone.

The CBI has filed a chargesheet in Sheena Bora case in a Mumbai court against the three people accused of the murder, Sheena Bora’s mother Indrani Mukerjea, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and their former driver Shyamvar Rai.

Apart from Indrani, her second husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyamvar Rai are also under custody.

The CBI, which was handed over the case on September 29 after a turf-war between the former Commissioner Rakesh Maria and the new incumbent Ahmed Javed, had questioned Mukherjea for hours before it was chose to place him under arrest, the sources said. The other sections under which the three accused have been booked are Section 328 (causing hurt by means of poison), Section 201, 202, 203 of IPC (destruction of evidence and giving false information), and Section 2 (25) of the Arms Act. The arrest is a blow for Mukherjea, who was questioned by Mumbai Police but was never a suspect. He got arrested by the CBI team from his worli residence and taken to the CBI office in south Mumbai.

The trio poured petrol over the body and set it afire before dumping the half-burnt remains in the thick bushes from where it was found on May 23, a month later by a local villager.
