Peyton Manning sits, Brock Osweiler to start for Broncos Sunday

Matters are not going to be helped by quarterback Peyton Manning ailing and already ruled out for the game with the Bears, it’s going to be on the shoulders of Brock Osweiler. He managed to eclipse that by virtue of throwing almost as many interceptions (four) as completions (five) for the Denver Broncos in a 29-13 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Denver needs to always watch him and put two men on him if necessary.

Manning’s primary physical issue is his rib cage.

“All the attention is toward getting [Manning] healthy”, Kubiak said, according to the Broncos’ Twitter feed.

Mannings play began to dip last season after he pulled a thigh muscle, so GM John Elway and Kubiak entered this season with a new plan to keep Manning fresh for the stretch run. Manning chucked four interceptions, threw for just 35 yards and was yanked from the game with 6:34 left in the third quarter. “I’m disappointed in myself, this is on me”. “I’m disappointed in the game yesterday”. Maybe that was the wrong – maybe that was a false feeling by me or whatever that was….

The news came on Monday afternoon in a press conference, as Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak said that the quarterback will be unavailable for the game in Chicago. “I was anxious about him”, Kubiak said following the game. Peyton has been the starter for this team for a number of years now, ever since I’ve been here. “But if it hurts, it’s better to step aside and get healthy for the back part of the season”.

Manning won’t practice this week nor will he suit up against the Bears, when rookie Trevor Siemian will be Osweiler’s backup.

Manning lined up under center nine times against the Green Bay Packers earlier this month, but only lined up under center once against the Oakland Raiders and once against the Indianapolis Colts.

We still don’t know if it’s the injury or old age getting to Manning, but unless he heals his foot we won’t find out for sure. “I think it’s going to be a great football game that’s going to take the entire team to go into Chicago and get a win this weekend”.

Osweiler told the media,”Obviously, they are coached very well”. “But at the same time, Peyton is still our guy”. I’ll break the league’s best quarterbacks and most likely candidates into tiers based on career stage. Do I feel more comfortable out there? Yes.

“I mean, I caught it. I trust in my hands”, Beckham said. We’re focused on this week, then we’ll re-evaluate next week.

Osweiler will be making his first start since December 22, 2011, when he threw for almost 400 yards in Arizona States 56-24 loss to Boise State in the MAACO Bowl.

Denver Broncos quarterback Brock Osweiler (17) looks to pass the ball during the second half against the Kansas City Chiefs at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. I think they got a few touchdowns there in the fourth (quarter) with just kind of clean up time.

Whether Manning was a fully operational did not matter to the Chiefs. “Brock is going to play this week”, Kubiak said, via the team’s official website. “And he would do it again this week, too”. “The players will support him”.
