The first widespread cold spell of the season will see an Arctic maritime airmass spread across the country, with strong winds.

GALE force winds and snow are due to hit the area tomorrow, according to the Met Office.

Winds will be at the strongest during this time as the cold front passes through.

Forecasters are predicting an arctic blast to arrive in Lincolnshire this weekend bringing sleet and snow showers with it.

A colossal swathe of air is expected to sweep down from the North Pole tomorrow night bringing snow and sleet as far south as London.

“Hills may get a little bit of cover but the ground is still quite warm and so I don’t think anything will stick too long”.

The wintry conditions are expected to occur between 4pm on Friday and 10am on Saturday.

“Minimum temperatures are likely to drop below freezing, with widespread frost and the risk of icy patches”.

The change in the weather could be a shock to the system after an unseasonably warm November was felt at the start of the month.

“They should also wear shoes with a good, slip-resistant grip to prevent any accidental falls. Outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow at times with sleet and snow likely at lower levels”.

Monday, though, should see a lot more sunshine with the maximum temperature staying in low single figures.

It’s gray but rather mild this afternoon with a few showers scattered about western Mass. Most of the rain will fall this evening into the overnight.
