Erickson was practicing landing at the airport when its tail impacted the ground, the county Medical Examiner’s Office said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation and the identities of the victims has not been made available.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash of the Airbus AS350 helicopter.
A helicopter went spinning wildly out of control in Carlsbad, Californina Wednesday, and the bad accident was recorded on video.

The airport itself was shut down after the accident took place at around 4:30 pm local time, local KUSI reported. Both people aboard the aircraft died in the crash, according to a NorCom Fire dispatcher.
