Syrian refugees turn themselves in at US-Mexico border

On the same day and 1,800 miles north, two Syrian families were taken into custody at a border checkpoint in Texas. 5 Syrians using stolen Greek passports & headed for the USA have been arrested (taken in to custody) in Honduras earlier this current week, & eight different Syrians have been detained after making an attempt to cross from Mexico in to Texas. The two men were taken to the South Texas Detention Center in Pearsall, Texas. The families “presented themselves” to US authorities, who said that “due to privacy issues, no additional information” would be provided at this time.

That’s not quite a confirmation of the story and here’s hoping Gov. Abbott’s office can get the Border Patrol on the record so we can find out what’s going on.

The reports have caused a stir among the sector’s Border Patrol agents.

This comes as lawmakers prepare to vote on suspending the program to bring Syrians into the country and homeland security releases its report on the crisis.

According to Breitbart, a conservative news outlet, eight Syrian immigrants were apprehended by federal border agents after trying to cross into Texas from Mexico near the Laredo sector of the border on Monday. Syrians have to go through remarkably vigorous background checks before they can be accepted as refugees and resettled in the United States. Securing our borders and strategic handling of Syrian refugees and then leadership in the fight against ISIS are the priorities.

These reports come as a number of Republican governors have made high-profile vows to prevent the resettlement of Syrian refugees within their states and Republican presidential candidates have pledged to refuse entry to Syrian refugees.
