In a separate incident, three Palestinians allegedly opened fire on an Israeli auto from a vehicle in the Gush Etzion settlement south of Bethlehem, killing at least an Israeli, a Palestinian and an American according to the police. These are the latest in a series of “lone wolf” attacks that have claimed the lives of 15 Israelis in the last two months.

A Palestinian in Tel Aviv who worked in a restaurant burst into an improvised synagogue in a nearby building hosting workshops and stabbed one of the congregants to death in the midst of evening prayers.

Initially, Israeli media reported that ten people were injured in the double attack.

Though details were still emerging, the army spoke of shots being fired, then of the attacker “intentionally” ramming his auto into the pedestrians. But more visits recently by Jewish spiritual activists and ultra-nationalist Israeli politicians to the complex have done little to convince the Palestinians. A sixth person to die Thursday was Aliyan Mahmud, a 22-year-old Palestinian who was wounded November 11 in the West Bank, the Palestinian health ministry said.

Shortly after 9 a.m., Israeli Border Patrolmen at a security checkpoint to one of the gates of the Cave of the Patriarchs apprehended a 16-year-old Palestinian resident of Hebron in possession of a knife. “Security forces are working day and night in order to foil terror networks and arrest the attackers”, he added, expressing his condolences to the families of the victims of Thursday’s attacks. This week Israel outlawed an Islamic party, accusing it of fanning the flames and inciting Arab citizens of Israel to violence. The Palestinian Authority says a number of Palestinian civilians have been killed in both Gaza and the West Bank.

Also Thursday, Israeli Maj. The officer was sentenced Wednesday.
