Federation Internationale de Football Association must change global calendar or lose top players: Arsene Wenger

Arsène Wenger has repeated his call for blood testing to be introduced in football and insisted that anyone testing positive should have their contracts terminated.

Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Arijan Ademi failed a drugs test following the Croatian side’s victory over Arsenal in the Champions League earlier this season, which has forced Wenger to further question the current standards.

The English Football Association is keen to hold talks with the Arsenal manager over his previous claims that he has faced teams with players who have taken performance enhancing drugs.

The Frenchman has elaborated on his views in an interview with Bein Sports and he has admitted that the urine tests which are now utilised in football may not be sufficient to catch perpetrators.

“One day the clubs could move away and say, “Enough is enough, we pay a huge amount of money for our best players so we’ll get them together ourselves and organise our own competitions”.

“We have to tackle these problems and not to close our eyes, because it’s a little bit unreasonable to think just because we are football we have no problems with it”. “I hope it is true but I think to be completely sure about it, you want to go into deeper tests”.

Wenger clarified that he has not witnessed doping in football, but that he has seen a few “strange things” during his career as a manager. I say, without any doubt, yes.

“I just mean that you see the doping problem has suddenly turned up in track and field as well”.

Nevertheless, it’s these five players we believe will be crucial to Arsenal in the next three games for a variety of reasons. Find us on Facebook too!

“We had restricted options on the bench because of injuries and that makes the game difficult” Wenger said this after the game against Tottenham Hotspur where they played a one all draw, with defender Kieran Gibbs having to come on as a winger due to the limited options and becoming the saviour as he scored the equaliser for Arsenal in the match.

“I agree with John (Barnes) 100% that this is their (Arsenal’s) best chance, but I think that Manchester City will win the league”, said Wilkins when asked who he thinks will win the league title this season.

“First, on personal initiative”.
