Carly Simon was molested at age 7

Carly Simon is finally pulling the lid off of one of pop music’s longest-running mysteries, opening up about the subject of her classic 1972 song You’re So Vain. In a new interview with People magazine, she says the second verse is about actor Warren Beatty.

No comments were forthcoming, either from Beatty or Shawn. “I bet in many more cases than we know about there is”, she exclaimed.

Although she told her older sisters at the time, they didn’t believe her until she showed them the book.

In an interview with People, Simon revealed that the boy, who was a teenager at the time, was later banned from the home.

However, Simon has made a decision to keep devotees guessing about the rest of the tune, which actually details her relationships with two other men.

The 70-year-old songwriter is preparing to release her memoirs, an upcoming autobiography she has titled Boys in the Trees, which likely contains more information surrounding the recording and original performances of the song, as well as the emotions that caused her to pen it in the first place. For a long time, the only clue Simon gave was that whoever he was, he probably thought the song was about him.

Simon said her mother forced her to see a psychiatrist.

“I knew I had to keep it quiet”. I said, “Yes he touched me on the chair. I wanted to keep it quiet because I wanted to keep it going”, she says.
