Sunderland midfielder Jordi Gomez is looking for another win over Crystal Palace on Monday night. Sunderland’s only win in the league came in Allardyce’s second match in charge when they beat arch-rivals Newcastle United 3-0 nearly a month ago.

“Yann had a problem after the last game and he hasn’t trained with us just yet”. It was a very important three points, at a very important time for us.

“I’ve been playing in a more defensive position this season, so that’s probably why I’ve not been among the goals”, he said.
Allardyce said: ” I am still learning about the players and expected to have got more out of the games with the performances we gave, but we have to cut out the individual errors and the sooner we do that, then the sooner we will put points on the board.
“Our French players are obviously affected by the tragic events but I think they all have a willingness to play on Monday to the best of their abilities”.
