WiseGirls starlet and chanteuse of noted elusiveness Mariah Carey has a Christmas movie on the go for this holiday season and now we’ve been treated to a sneak peek of this upcoming offering.

Before her return to her Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace in February, Carey is set to perform at this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Oh, and they all do a rendition of “All I Want For Christmas Is You” (Obviously). It’s not clear, however, if Carey will be singing in the movie, too. When Kristin has to close her Manhattan clothing boutique and move home to OH, she finds things hard – especially when she runs into her former high school rival Melissa (Carey). Well, now she is working her way onto your must-watch holiday movie list! Melissa is president of the PTA and tries to make Kristen feel as unwelcome as possible.

“A Christmas Melody” also stars Lacey Chabert (“Mean Girls”) as Kristin, Kathy Najimy as her Aunt Sarah, Fina Strazza as her daughter Emily, and Brennan Elliott as the music teacher Danny. Eventually, “with a little holiday magic and music”, the mother and daughter discover that “home is where the heart is”.

While this sounds like it’s almost a parody of a Hallmark Channel movie, the film’s IMDb summary portrays a film that sounds a bit stranger and fantastical: A Christmas Melody is about “a gift of music transports people back to another time and place where they find their truest feelings”.
