Ex-Subway pitchman Jared Fogle sentenced to 15 year
Herman is a former television journalist from Florida who met Fogle while he was making promotional appearances.

“What a gift, to have such a professional windfall fall in your lap”, she said.
“Federal judges do not sentence based on emotion or public sentiment”, Pratt said. Taylor, who co-operated in the investigation and has yet to be sentenced, would tape his young family members and their friends for Fogle, prosecutors have said. Fogle blew kisses to relatives as he was led away. Prosecutors sought 12-1/2 years. The Federal Bureau of Prisons will determine where he ultimately will serve his sentence.
Thursday’s hearing included testimony from two defense witnesses, a forensic psychiatrist and a psychologist, who testified about their examinations of Fogle.
Fogle would pay a $400 “finder’s fee” and at least $300 for the sex.
“I’ll pay you big for a 14- or 15-year-old”, Fogle had texted an 18-year-old prostitute from Las Vegas, after paying her for sex, a detective told the judge.
When prosecutor Steve DeBrota asked Bradford if “mild” or “weak” pedophilia were terms that other experts in the field used or if he’d come up with them “to provide scaling to the word pedophilia”, Bradford said he had come up with them himself.
Fogle also said he wants to help sex offenders and inmates after he gets out of prison, according to a reporter tweeting the court proceedings.
Before his sentencing, Fogle delivered a statement in which he apologized for his actions, the Star reported.
Fogle’s attorneys have said in court documents that he suffers from hypersexuality and alcohol problems and is committed to receiving treatment for his medical conditions.
Fogle agreed to plead guilty in August. He also received hundreds of child pornography images from his friend and former business partner, Russell Taylor, who also pleaded guilty to federal child pornography charges.
“Yes, your honor. I do”, he replied.
The prosecution contended Thursday that Fogle “can’t control his demons” and pointed to a “pattern of behavior”. The court granted an exception requested by Fogle’s lawyers: he can see his children without supervision.
Former Subway pitchman Jared Fogle may serve time at a federal lockup in Jefferson County.
The hearing offered new details about Fogle’s transgressions and his life in recent months.
In describing her sentence, Pratt noted how fortunate Fogle was to land his money-making deal after losing lots of weight in faculty to be the spokesman of Subway. “He wanted me to set up my children, but along with their friends and their friends’ siblings”. He didn’t say anything as he walked past reporters while wearing a dark suit and red tie. Judge Pratt explained that his sentence could “range from 135 to 168 months…does not sufficiently account for the defendant’s criminal conduct”.
But after Fogle’s home in Zionsville, Ind., was raided in July, Subway announced that the company and Fogle had “mutually agreed to suspend their relationship”. The case destroyed his Subway career.
Mr. Taylor directed The Jared Foundation, Fogle’s nonprofit aimed at raising awareness for childhood obesity.
