Maybe Adele’s disinterest in feigning youth actually helps her sell millions of discs, crossing generational gaps and connecting her with an older demographic of buyers who don’t care that 25 isn’t on streaming platforms. The album will not be available on any streaming websites.

In the message posted to her social media accounts, Adele went on to say that she is so grateful and “overwhelmed” to be able to put another album out.
Adele has revealed she didn’t think the internet would be important for her new album. “The last month has been a whirlwind, it’s literally taken my breath away”, Adele wrote. “Love In the Dark”, written with Sia collaborator Samuel Dixon, is reminiscent of “Turning Tables” from “21”; she’s looking back on “When We Were Young”, which sounds like a pop classic; and the drum-filled “I Miss You” is eerie and moody – in a good way.
Trade publication Billboard, citing unidentified sources, said Columbia Records will ship 3.6 million physical copies of the new album in the United States, which could be the largest number of new release CDs shipped in the past decade. In just three weeks, the single “Hello” has sold 2.2 million tracks. “This is about the producer who works tirelessly to innovate and create, just like the innovators and creators at Apple are pioneering in their field … but will not get paid for a quarter of a year’s worth of plays on his or her songs”.
And here, like in her earlier works, it is her ability to tackle life’s emotional moments with a maturity well beyond her years that makes the songs compelling enough for repeated listening. In addition to “Hello” topping the USA charts, advance sales of “25” have made it the best-selling album on Amazon.com’s British and US sites, according to the retailer.

Her much-anticipated new work goes on sale today, but fans hoping to listen to it online will be left disappointed, although it will be available to buy on iTunes. “Often, though, it slinks unremarkably into the middle of the road”, he said.
