Broncos’ Brock Osweiler: Will start Week 11
As for Manning, this Sunday will mark the first time in his career that he misses a start in a season where he plays. Manning moved into firs…

Brock Osweiler was built to play in Broncos’ coach Gary Kubiak’s system. Denver has to get him in rhythm immediately. Manning played the game with a partially torn plantar fascia in his left foot, according to multiple reports. Manning went for an MRI on his ribs Monday.
I told Brock when I first walked in, This is totally a blessing for you to be behind Peyton learning from him. I think that its a great opportunity for Brock to get in, play this game and show what he can do, said tight end Vernon Davis, whom the Broncos obtained in a trade from the 49ers earlier this month. Even scarier for Manning are his season stats, which prove more than any one specific game. The name still carries a punch, because it’s Manning and he’s easily a top-five quarterback of all time, but past the name there’s not much left.
While a few of the fanfare is lost without Manning, John Fox still welcomes in his former team and you can bet that an already confident, motivated Bears team will have extra pep in their step to win this game for their coach. Hes taught me so many things, so Im going to continue to support him.. “I am disappointed in myself”. I’m disappointed in the game yesterday. “I will try to take advantage of this week and try to get to feeling better and getting healthy”.
Kubiak said he regretted the decision to roll out Manning against Kansas City.
“I probably should have right there said, you know, no, he’s not going to go this week”, Kubiak said. “But when we got back, I couldn’t sit still”. “He’s not happy about not playing, but he understands”.
Manning won’t even dress for the matchup in Chicago, and Trevor Siemian will be Denver’s backup.
Kubiak wouldn’t speculate how long Manning might be out. “I know that’s the best decision for him, to get him back and healthy, and we need to know where we’re heading this week”.
Manning, a seven-time All-Pro, has just nine touchdowns and a league-high 17 interceptions this season, a far cry from the numbers he has racked up as one of the game’s best quarterbacks.
So, Manning told Osweiler hed be there for any questions he might have, but Im not going to be one of those extra voices in his ear.. “I’m not going to put the weight of the world on that”, Osweiler said.
But for this group, as opposed to the 10-year starters, I did feel a little more comfortable playing around with 4,800- or 5,000-yard seasons, since they’re all still in their prime. “I felt good about him”. We’re focused on this week, then we’ll re-evaluate next week.
In the meantime, it’s a chance for the Broncos to finally evaluate Osweiler, whom they drafted in the second round in 2012, meaning he’s in the final year of his rookie contract.
Osweiler led Denver to its only points of the game on Sunday – two touchdowns, one of which he threw to Andre Caldwell. In the second half, safety Ron Parker picked a fourth pass from Manning and safety Eric Berry grabbed an end zone interception thrown by Brock Osweiler.
Whether Manning was a fully operational did not matter to the Chiefs.
“This is different”, Kubiak said. “And he would do it again this week, too”.

That completion made Manning the NFL’s all-time leader in passing yards, pushing him past Brett Favre (71,838) and leading to a stoppage in play so Manning could bask in his glory.
