Adele’s Album Will Not Be On Streaming Sites

For those who were able to get their hands on a hard copy (one person in our office asked what would he play a CD on?), there’s been a general consensus that the album is pretty good.

As you are probably aware, today is the day Adele drops 25, the album that will run amok in your feelings and render you an inconsolable puddle of tears, snot and used Kleenex.

“25” had been expected to sell more than 1 million units in North America in its first week, according to estimates by Billboard magazine. It’s again a typical Adele song, but the lyrics with the attractive piano in the background make it another great addition to the album.

Yohana Desta at Mashable writes that “The wildly anticipated third release delivers what all Adele fans want – big vocals, ballads (heartbroken and otherwise) and the classic soundscape, culled from vintage pop and soul music”.

The NY Times is reporting that the leading streaming platforms were informed yesterday – less than 24 hours before the actual release – that the album would not be made available on their growing digital catalogs.

Unlike Ms. Swift, who is most popular among younger listeners, Adele receives a big boost from older consumers.

Music industry watchers are predicting that “25” could even break the sales record for the most album sales in a week, a title that is still held by NSYNC’s “No Strings Attached“.

In the sketch, the star joins a line-up of Adele impersonators as they audition for a fictitious TV show at a theater in London, and the real Adele attempts to best the fakers when performing her music. “Adele singlehandedly helped change the trajectory”.

“This is a minor issue for Adele, but a major issue for the streaming services“, Mark Mulligan, a digital media analyst with Midia Research, told the Times.

Adele is a private person, but no so private that she won’t vaguely talk about her relationships.

After a four-year hiatus, the singer’s first single has become the top-selling song in two decades. “I hope you enjoy the record as much as I enjoyed making it for you”. A stream still isn’t as valuable as a sale, and a single song’s popularity on YouTube and Spotify can indicate that a song is a hit. Many artists have no choice but to offer their music for streaming if they want to get their music to the masses, meaning that they have to accede to the terms set by the services.
