Steve Brookstein defends HIV ‘joke’ about Olly Murs’ X Factor blunder
After the judges acknowledged they could not determine which act to send home – out of Anton Stephans and Monica Michael – the selection was assumed to be in the public’s hands.

Fresh from last night’s dramatic X Factor double eviction, the show’s latest contestants to leave joined us live in the studio to talk about what happened and what they plan to do next.
The controversial singer – who was a wildcard for this year’s competition – was kicked off the show after a lacklustre sing off against Anton Stephans.
We’d say what Caroline was really trying to say in her interview is that her and Olly are kind of like Friends with Benefits, right?
Addressing the slip-up by presenter Olly Murs, when he got confused over the results on Sunday night, she added: “Backstage, he was absolutely devastated, so I feel really sorry for him”. I’m still learning & hope that never happens again!’ Murs originally found fame as a contestant on the show in 2009, before moving into presenting.
I had to come back strong and the song that I had was my comeback, I was going to rap in it and show the real Monica that people have seen previously.
Did you miss this weekend’s X Factor action?
“I’m such a perfectionist and all week I’d been thinking about where I was going to look and my facial expressions. Sorry Monica. I do apologise”, Murs backtracked.
Needless to say, her exit didn’t exactly go down quietly.
‘I loved it I really did it was such a great experience, but I felt like I was so out my comfort zone sometimes and it started to weigh me down a little bit’.
Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini follow in the footsteps of X Factor host Olly Murs with accidental reveal.
As for what’s next, Monica will now be getting into the studio, recording her own music and putting an album out.

Olly Murs made *quite* a blunder on Sunday night… For me, the shock of me leaving hit me on Friday as I just knew that I was going to go.
