Darren McFadden Injury: Updates on Cowboys Star’s Groin and Return

The Cowboys added running back Darren McFadden to the injury report with a groin injury.

According to ESPN’s Todd Archer, McFadden is dealing with a groin injury which is keeping him limited in practice and potentially could force him out of the game Sunday against the Dolphins.

Owner and general manager Jerry Jones said on his radio show that the team was being cautious with McFadden, whose career as the fourth overall pick by Oakland in 2008 was derailed by a litany of injuries. With McFadden out, Turbin could get the starting nod while Rod Smith and Trey Williams have yet to develop.

He has been limited in practice the past two days, leaving in question Dallas’ backfield plan for Sunday’s game at the Miami Dolphins.

Signed earlier in the week, Turbin reportedly worked relentlessly to learn enough of the playbook to allow for active status. “This guy is a veteran”. He has only topped 200 carries in his career twice and has scored more than five rushing touchdowns once, all demerits rooted in his inability to stay healthy.

Romo is set to return this weekend, though, so it isn’t all bad news in Dallas. “It’s a good, competitive environment”.

After averaging 4.8 yards per carry in his first four seasons, McFadden has been well below the four clip the last three and sits at 3.8 now. He missed 29 games with 15 different injuries in his first six seasons. They also lost Lance Dunbar to a season-ending knee injury. He is really a strong kid.
