Coli outbreak linked to Chipotle expands to 6 states
On Friday, the CDC announced that a total of 45 people have now been infected across six states, including OR, Washington, Ohio, New York, Minnesota, and California. Seattle lawyer Bill Marler, who is representing to about three dozen individuals affected by the flare-up in OR and Washington state, said the increment in reported cases raises the probability that the culprit will be recognized.

The company said it has had no reported new cases in Washington or OR since it took those precautions. Last week the agency said a case in Minnesota was not linked to this outbreak but now there are two linked cases from that state.
“The investigation is still ongoing to determine what specific food is linked to illness”.
Chipotle (CMG – Get Report) investors may be about to get one sickening fourth quarter earnings report as the popular Mexican fast-food chain deals with an E. Coli outbreak that’s gotten more serious.
If you became ill with diarrhea symptoms after eating at Chipotle recently, you should contact a doctor, the CDC said. Nearly 48 people have been infected with E. coli. The company voluntarily closed 43 units across the region and conducted deep cleaning, replaced ingredients and established new food safety protocols. The company said in 42 of 43 cases linked to Chipotle, people reported visiting one of the restaurants in question between October 13 and October 30, and one person reported having eaten November 6.
After an investigation into the sickness that the person contracted in October, officials learned it originated from a Chipotle Mexican Grill establishment in Amherst. Around 16 of them were hospitalized, although there have been no reported deaths.
“At the moment, we do not believe that it is necessary to close any restaurants”, Chipotle spokesman Chris Arnold told the Associated Press Friday.
The CDC said Friday that there are now cases in the states of California, Minnesota, OH and NY as well as OR and Washington. “In response to this incident, Chipotle has taken aggressive measures to make sure its eateries are as safe as possible”.

“The safety of our customers and the integrity of our food supply have always been our highest priorities”, Chipotle added.
