A high school playoff contest between Miami Central and Carol City High was forced into an early ending after gunshots were fired either in or very close to the stadium in which the game was played.
UPDATE 2: The Nathaniel Traz-Powell Stadium is located at 11380 Northwest 27th Avenue in Miami.
No further information has been released, but photos and video on social media showed players and fans in the stands ducking for cover, and running from the stadium.
The station also reported that police had taken five suspects into custody.
“You hate to see anything like that happen, but luckily it seems like no one was hurt”, Miami Central football coach Roland Smith was quoted as saying in the Miami Herald after the game.
Reports of gun shots have yet to be confirmed after the game, but police did arrive at the scene.
