The presenter was left mortified when he mistakenly revealed that Monica had received the fewest votes during the elimination after he miscounted the four judges’ deciding votes.

Asked what song she was going to sing, she said: “I was going to sing Bang Bang Shot Me Down”.

In a bid to limit the damage Monica responded: “I want to apologise for any offence caused on the @TheXFactor tonight”.

After being booted off on Sunday night, Monica claims that she was constantly asking to sing original songs.

Making a mistake at work is enough to make anyone upset, and we imagine those feelings are multiplied when the gaffe is aired on live TV.

Fresh from last night’s dramatic X Factor double eviction, the show’s latest contestants to leave joined us live in the studio to talk about what happened and what they plan to do next.

“It’s live.” Olly was also reassured by former host Dermot O’Leary, who had fronted the programme from 2007 to 2014.

She explained that after spending years finding out who she wanted to be, covering other people’s music for weeks made her feel like she was “going backwards”.

X Factor host Olly Murs is heading to Manchester to sign his new CD and DVD.

This was instead of announcing that it would actually fall back to the public vote as the panel hadn’t been able to come to a decision.

The X Factor mogul shared two pictures of father and son watching the Jungle Book, telling followers: “Happiness is a day off work”.

The moment became widely discussed online, and Monica said in subsequent interviews that he was “absolutely devastated” afterwards.
