Jordan spurns Mavericks for Clippers after teammates’ plea

After verbally committing to the Dallas Mavericks, he announced Thursday that he changed his mind and will play for the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks. The terms, first reported by USA Today, include a player option after the third season.

The freakish chain of events kicked off on Monday night when Jordan apparently contacted Griffin and Rivers to tell them he made a mistake.

Following a hectic Wednesday night in which reports indicated that Cuban could not get in touch with Jordan, the Mavs owner admitted that he has not heard from the center since Tuesday night. It has been reported that DeAndre Jordan was “torn” and “unsure” about his decision to play for the Dallas Mavericks. They even tweeted pictures of a chair pushed against a door and a tent in the backyard to show that they were serious about not letting the Mavericks steal him from under their noses!

Desperate measures for a desperate team.

The Colts clearly aren’t complaining that Gore had a change of heart, and neither are the Clippers regarding Jordan.

“We have to look at it and maybe start the signing, everything starts the same time when the moratorium ends rather than starting July 1”, King said. Barring some miracle, the makeup of our team is completely different now. So he did the only logical thing and make a phone call to his BFF Blake Griffin to tell him. Last season, he had led the league in rebounds 11.5 points and 15 rebounds and field-goal percentage (71 percent). He helped the Clippers get within a victory of the Western Conference finals for the first time, but a second-half collapse at home in Game 6 was followed by a loss in the deciding game at Houston. The ex- Duke standout made it perfectly clear where he stood on the matter; specifically with regard to center DeAndre Jordan’s decision to migrate south to the Dallas Mavericks. Cuban praised Jordan’s ability and discussed the role he would have on the Mavericks during a radio interview.

He lost a lot more on Wednesday. They let Tyson Chandler go to Phoenix.

Luckily for the Mavs, Wes Matthews has still signed on, and they are likely to sign a ex- All-Star in Deron Williams, but Mark Cuban and company will surely not be forgiving the actions of DeAndre Jordan any time soon. And so began one of the strangest days in National Basteball Association free agency history. Fegan was not present at Jordan’s house when he signed the contract and instead had the contract certified by another representative from the agency. In 2012, Jason Kidd agreed to a three-year, $9 million contract with the team, only to change his mind and join the New York Knicks. Sports, Jordan refused to meet with Mark Cuban. Griffin, who was returning from a Hawaiian vacation, tweeted emojis of an airplane, a helicopter and a vehicle.

And this from Chris Paul, referencing his well-publicized banana boat ride with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Gabrielle Union earlier in the week. They added free agent Paul Pierce and traded for Lance Stephenson.
