That’s the handsome thing about sports and right or not – it’s the world we live in and gives us plenty to talk about. In four relief appearances for Tampa Bay this year, he allowed one run in 5 2/3 innings. “That wasn’t even on my mind at all”.

In a scary moment for AL Central-leading Kansas City, Gordon had to be carted off the field in the fourth inning of a 9-7 victory over Tampa Bay.

Cheslor Cuthbert started the rally with a one-out walk, and Escobar lined a sharp single off Archer’s ankle. Jarrod Dyson had payback on his mind. Forsythe rounded the bases for an inside-the-park home run to tie the game at 2-2. He is second on the team in home runs with 11.

Asked if he thought the players’ vote might indicate all is not forgiven by his peers, A-Rod answered: “I wouldn’t say all that”.

The New York Yankees’ designated hitter says he’s happy just to be in the conversation, and hopes the four days off over the All-Star break will benefit him. Obviously I hold myself to a higher standard.

SMYLY GUY: Baseball operations president Matt Silverman said the team is optimistic LHP Drew Smyly can return in August from shoulder issues, based on his response to a throwing program that has included several bullpen sessions. “He probably saved the game for us”.

Gordon injured his left groin in the fourth inning chasing a Logan Forsythe fly ball. “He’s getting and MRI right now and we’ll find out”. “They’re in a good spot, and they’re very relentless in their approach”.

Dyson replaced Gordon in left field.

Jul 4, 2015; Oakland, CA, United States of America; Oakland Athletics outfielder Billy Burns (1) scores a run on a sacrifice fly against the Seattle Mariners in the seventh inning at O.co Coliseum. It didn’t bother Trout, who hit mammoth homers in the first and sixth to account for the Angels’ runs against starter Chris Rusin. A James Loney single in the top of the third brought in the first run of the game, then the aforementioned Cain homer and Forsythe inside-the-park homer happened.

Greg Holland was summoned to get the final two outs and pick up his 17th save in 19 opportunities, but not before giving up a two-run single to third baseman Evan Longoria. Cincinnati took the first two games and leads the season series 5-0.
