Fire burns John Hancock Center in Chicago

A fire broke out Saturday afternoon high up in the John Hancock Center, one of Chicago’s tallest skyscrapers.

One person was taken to Northwestern hospital, but the severity of the individual’s injuries were unknown, according to WGN.

Flames and smoke were seen from the iconic high-rise’s 50th floor.

Chicago police say they were getting calls reporting the blaze from people inside the building.

A fire on the fiftieth floor was reported around 2:40 p.m., according to DNAinfo. There is no word on the cause of the two alarm fire.

The Hancock building, a landmark in Chicago, has condominiums on most of the upper half floors and an observatory popular with tourists for its sweeping views of the city and Lake MI.
