Colin Kaepernick will not return to 49ers in 2016

Gabbert could stay on to help tutor a rookie QB or two in 2016 and 2017, but the 49ers need to figure out who can play defense on this roster-and who can’t.

“It was wonderful”, Gabbert said.

“All I know is we got the victory today, we’ve got a bye week coming up and we’re going to prepare for Seattle”. From a player’s perspective, we’ve got to make it work, and that’s always the mindset that I have. I guess I just realize how ultimately, in the bigger scheme of things, this win means nothing.

It’s not hard to see why the 49ers are sticking with Gabbert, who filled in for the recently benched Colin Kaepernick by completing 15 of 25 passes for 185 yards, two touchdowns and two picks.

Notable: The Rams tied the game on a Greg Zuerlein 53-yard field goal with 17 seconds left to force overtime.

“We’re a really good two-minute offense, so that was the reasoning behind it”, Quinn said. “We didn’t do it today, though”.

Via Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com, Tomsula said that he’ll speak with Gabbert and Colin Kaepernick before disclosing the quarterback decision for Week 11. When a team wins collectively, players can’t wait to play again so they can contribute to victory.

The Falcons have lost three of their last four games, including the first two-game losing streak under Quinn, the first-year coach. San Francisco had played significantly better at Levi’s Stadium this season, and it’s no secret that the organization needs to figure out how to translate that relative success to the road performances. Trailing 17-13, the Falcons faced fourth-and-goal from the 1.

The media gave the 2-6 49ers no chance against the 6-2 Atlanta Falcons going into the game. The Falcons would have had plenty of time to get a stop of their own and get the ball back with good field position. “That’s where we’re going”. The Seahawks defeated the 49ers in their first meeting 20-3 last month.

Even with the myriad of injuries at running back, the 49ers were able to produce on the running game. Ryan opened the drive with a 54-yard deep strike to Jones, giving Atlanta a first down at the 49ers’ 24. They also beat Washington in overtime and passed the Tennessee Titans in the third quarter of that game. This was Jones’ fifth 100-yard receiving game of the season, and the 24th of his career. It’s time to tinker the playbook and return to the top-five unit they were early on this season.

NaVorro Bowman had a big game with seven tackles and a sack.

The 49ers held RB Devonta Freeman to a season-low 12 yards on 12 carries without a rushing touchdown.
