Amnesty worldwide and Doctors Without Borders condemns undercover hospital

A video taken by hospital security cameras shows the Israeli raiding party coming into the hospital, a few wearing fake beards and others women’s clothing and then pulling out firearms and rushing the surgical ward. He was identified by hospital workers as a cousin of the Palestinian suspect.

The fighters seized Abdallah Azzam al-Shalalda, 27, who was lying injured in a bed in the West Bank hospital and shot dead his cousin who was visiting him.

Hamas, the Islamic militant group that rules Gaza, praised the attack but stopped short of claiming responsibility for it. Since mid-September, most of the Palestinian attacks have been stabbings, targeting seemingly random pedestrians or people passing by, but Friday’s attack appeared to be more carefully planned and executed.

“The fact that Abdullah Shalaldah was shot in the head and upper body suggests this was an extrajudicial execution, adding to a disturbing pattern of similar recent incidents by Israeli forces in the West Bank which warrant urgent investigation”.

There has been a wave of violence across Israel, Jerusalem and the West Bank since October 1, fuelled in part by dispute over access to a site in Jerusalem holy to both Muslims and Jews.
