Milan and Juve can breathe life into the Serie A

The 16-year-old made Serie A history last month by becoming the youngest ever goalkeeper to start a game in Italy’s top flight, and has since made four appearances.

Gianluigi Buffon celeb rated 20 years of playing in Serie A on Thursday (Friday in Manila) as the Juventus and Italy goalkeeping great was hailed by his fellow professionals. However, they should all be good to go on Saturday night: the captain seems to be the one most in danger of missing the game, but there is optimism.

Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli, who has recently been described as the “new Andrea Nesta”, refuses to rule Juve out of the title race but said the Rossoneri have to continue their recent purple patch.

“His greatness comes from his professionalism and enthusiasm”.

Buffon appeared for Parma as a 17-year-old on November 19, 1995 and kept a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw with eventual champion AC Milan.

“Donnarumma is bright and talented”.

Scala, the man who launched Buffon’s career in such a big match, also recalled how taken aback he was by Buffon’s willingness to prove himself that day.

After a shaky start under Mihajlovic, Milan have begun to turn their season around and sit sixth in the table coming into the weekend’s match.

“In the next four days we have the chance to overtake Milan in the league and reach the Champions League knockout stages”.

Fiorentina hosts mid-table Empoli on Sunday, Inter faces promoted Frosinone, and Napoli visits struggling Hellas Verona. I am certain we can keep this up.

“Our aim is to get as many points as possible from here until Christmas”. I don’t think the result will be decisive. The season ahead is still long.

“It’s a prestigious match and it means a lot”.

Since former Parma handler Roberto Donadoni took over, Bologna have won their past two league games – a fact that hasn’t escaped Roma midfielder Alessandro Florenzi. We know we will have to work very hard to win. Instead, he quickly imposed his tough, defensive style on a talented team that had played great football, but had tended to tire out as the season went along. The Bianconeri are facing two home fixtures of major importance in quick succession in the shape of Saturday evening’s showdown with Milan and next Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League encounter against Manchester City.
