Newcastle hoping Vardy is not fit to continue scoring run

This though doesn’t stop Steve McClaren going way over the top, claiming that the player is getting back to the top form he showed when playing for him at FC Twente, form in Holland which McClaren describes as…’wow’.

The Newcastle manager warned, however, that Vardy is not the only danger among the squad who have taken Leicester to third place in the table with only one league defeat all season.

“It’s slow, but you can see it. I can see it; I see it every day”.

“He is the least poisonous player you can imagine, no one has ever got a bigger smile on their face, he just wants to play”. Remember, they’ve managed to scrape just four wins overall in the Premier League in 2015.

Cisse is understandably frustrated at his lack of involvement this season, but McClaren would not expect anything different from the Senegalese striker and maintains he does not have a problem with the 30-year-old’s attitude either.

Not only that, McClaren also has to appease a set of vociferous fans who are so disenchanted with the direction of their club they have practically been at war with Ashley for years.

“He (Tiote) has never been one ounce of trouble. We’ve just got a little bit of hangover from the past”.

The England worldwide, who is the top scorer in the Premier League so far this season, can match Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record if he scores in a 10th straight match this weekend, although he has been struggling with a hip injury in the build up.

“It shook him, but we’ve spoken to him and consulted him on what’s happening tomorrow”.

But McClaren knows unless his side can continue their mini revival and bring more hope to the Toon Army, they will vent their frustration towards Ashley even more vehemently and he will receive the collateral damage. “Maybe on Saturday morning, I’ll choose”.

“We have to be prepared for him to play but if he doesn’t we know that Leicester have got a few very good players in addition to Vardy. In all my career, I don’t want to risk a player for a match and then lose them for a month”.
